The Cup gears up for another 50-point double-header before the summer break
The R&G British Talent Cup (BTC) heads to Thruxton for Round 6 on August 10th and 11th, with a quick turnaround from Silverstone racing alongside MotoGP™. Thruxton, known for its high-speed corners and challenging layout, gives the BTC riders another chance to fight it out for 50 points – and those on the chase in the title fight will be looking to capitalise.
Last time out, Ryan Frost (Fibre Tec Honda – MLav Racing) claimed Race 1 victory on the world stage, with Championship leader Lucas Brown (SENCAT Talent Team / Mortimer Racing) and Julian Correa (Microlise Cresswell Racing) on the podium. Race 2 saw Filip Surowiak (Team City Lifting / RS Racing) take the victory ahead of Amanuel Brinton (Kovara Projects / RS Racing) in P2 and Brown rounding out the podium. With that, Lucas Brown carries a 25 point lead over closest contender Brinton as the BTC heads to Thruxton.
Amanuel Brinton, a standout performer at Thruxton last season, is one to watch, as he looks to cut the distance with Brown. Brinton secured a P2 finish in Race 1 and victory in Race 2 with a narrow 0.13-second lead. It will also be interesting to see Marco Morelli, who currently leads the European Talent Cup, join the field for a wildcard with Fibre Tec Honda – MLav Racing. Where will he shuffle into the pack?
Regardless, current BTC leader Lucas Brown will aim to improve upon last year’s performance at Thruxton, where he finished P15 in Race 1 and P6 in Race 2. With two victories this season, Brown’s consistency has been key to his success, and he’ll be determined to maintain his lead in the championship standings.
With Brown aiming to solidify his championship lead, Brinton looking to hit back and Morelli aiming to impress, Round 6 at Thruxton is set to be a thriller. Don’t miss the live action streamed on YouTube, and join us at Thruxton for an unforgettable sixth round of the 2024 R&G British Talent Cup!
